1 year stats

Here are Norah Kate's 1 year stats. She actually went to the doctor on Thursday, but we've been having fun with our cousins, Isabella & Brooks, that came to visit that same day, and then we've had some not-so-fun since I have had a cold this weekend. The pictures on here were taken on my iphone, so they are not the best quality, but just some snapshots. For those of you who have heard me talk about the enormous amounts of solid foods that Norah Kate has been eating these days, you can imagine my surprise when we weighed her and she only weighed 19 lbs 14 oz!!!!!!!!! Technically we aren't even suppose to turn her carseat around yet, but the pediatrician said it was really just up to us.
So...weight - 25th percentile
head circ - still 50th % I can't remember exactly, but as a former St. Jude nurse, I'm just pleased that the percentile is the same. :)
height - 29 1/4 inches... a little over the 75th %

*Foods - no more nursing. Since she was allergic to the milk formula we have had her on the Enfamil Go & Grow Soy formula for the last month. Now we will begin mixing that, in efforts to transition to Soy milk in the next week or so. The pediatrician suggested we not even try regular milk until she is about 2 years.
She is eating most anything that we eat now. I still try to concentrate on softer foods, but she's proven many times that she can do more.
*Diapers - (*drum roll please*) ...we are in size 3 diapers! Woo-hoo!
*Talking - about the same as before. Not talking much, but she is doing the sign for "please" now.
*Skills - not walking alone, but she will walk with her push toys or holding our hands. She has started standing on her own. She waves to EVERYONE. Not only does she "wash her hands" when touching the faucet or hand sanitizer bottle, but she also "washes" her tummy in the bath & rubs it after she eats a LOT. Ha Ha! :)
*Other stuff - she is playing on her own more now; she is VERY independent and really doesn't seem to put much care into what others "think." (I hope she continues with that...in some ways - ha ha!) She is still dancing and likes to dance with Mom & Dad. She loves to play more with Chula now...wants Chula around all the time. Oh! She has also started nodding her head (instead of only shaking her head "no")
I think that is everything...I'm sure there are things I'm forgetting though.

We are taking advantage of all the outside time we can get. Here she is outside with her new toy from Mimi & Daddy Ron!

1 YEAR OLD!!!

Where do I begin?! Today is my little girl's first birthday! I am so amazed that a year ago today I laid eyes on the most beautiful baby in the world...and my life changed forever. I now know that no matter how "prepared" you are...you are never "prepared" for a child. We've made it through the emotions of the first year...the ups and downs in the beginning, the excitement, the frustration, the hesitance, the happiness, and the JOY! I wouldn't change 1 minute of this last year. Norah Kate is such a happy baby, friendly to everyone she meets, pleasant to those who care for her, and loving to her family (and CHULA!). I love that she already has such a positive influence on others and I hope to see that continue throughout her life. All I know is that I have been blessed beyond explanation through the life of my daughter & I am so thankful for that. As always, our first prayer is that Norah Kate will continue to grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ, that she would make the decision as soon as possible to have a relationship with Him, and that she would live for Him all the days of her life. We can't wait to see how God uses her!

Here are some (wonderful!) pictures from the day. One of the added bonuses of working for a college university is that there are available "photographers" who are more than willing to do little jobs. We were so thankful to have Hunter Bragg take these pictures at her party, so that we did not have to worry about it. I think he did a great job. These are just a few of the pics...I will post more soon.

Our theme was "Owls." Her invitations said, "Whoo's turning 1?!" and then said "Come have a HOOT with us!" My friend, Jenny Lawson, did the appliqued on her shirt, and I actually made the tutu. Thanks for helping us out, Jenny! You did a great job!

I love Norah Kate's face in this picture. David was "helping" her with the cake because she was a little timid.

Norah Kate with her gifts. She got some great things...she is looking at her new rubber ducky from Ross & Sarah.

Cute little 1 year old!

Opening gifts! Such a sweet girl!

Norah Kate - I love you very much! I hope you always remember that. Your Dad and I are so proud of you and are looking forward to the future with you. We are thankful that God has allowed us to be your parents!

For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my
mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully
and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret
place.
When I was woven together in the
depths of the earth,
your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me
were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

The Phone

Every time Norah Kate spends a significant amount of time with her cousin, Aiden, he teaches her a new skill. This past weekend David and I attended a conference in Louisville, KY and Julie/Jonathan/Aiden were so sweet to take care of Norah Kate for us while we were gone. Now...I'm not sure if this time it was Aiden teaching Norah Kate the new skill or Julie! Ha Ha! :)

(We really appreciate the help this weekend...it made things go much more smooth!) She and Aiden must have had a great time because she is still asleep and it is almost 9 am!!!
